CPR Courses
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer: Prepares those with a duty to act (professional rescuers) with the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim of cardiac arrest. Participants receive CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification and pocket mask. American Red Cross recognizes 1 year CPR-PR certification.
Lay Rescuer CPR: Adult: Provides individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, and sudden illnesses in adults. Participants receive Adult certification and course materials. American Red Cross recognizes 1-year CPR certification.
Lay Rescuer CPR: Child: PProvides individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, and sudden illnesses in children. Participants receive Child certification and course materials. American Red Cross recognizes 1-year CPR certification.

Administering Emergency Oxygen: gives participants the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators (BVMs) and emergency oxygen. Participants receive Administering Oxygen certification and course materials. American Red Cross recognizes 1 year certification.
Risk Prevention Training: Designed to reduce the risk of catastrophic liability that can result from non-compliance with the complex web of federal and state employment laws. This course introduces you to effective tools for protecting your business from crushing lawsuits. It provides you with the awareness of legal issues you should consider as you prepare to make the employment decisions that need to be made each and every day.
OSHA Compliance Training: OSHA compliance training is designed to serve as your key to OSHA safety, regulatory compliance and training. OSHA training courses are developed by qualified instructors who offer standards-based OSHA compliance training, necessary to ensure a safe working environment. The OSHA compliance training course is ideal for supervisors with safety and health responsibilities, and for employee safety and health awareness. OSHA training also covers broad issues pertaining to the hazard recognition at work sites. The OSHA compliance training program is our primary way to train workers in the basics of occupational safety and health.
Sport Safety Training: The American Red Cross and the United States Olympic Committee have joined forces to develop an exciting coach for coaches who want to keep their athletes safe. This course covers sports-related injury prevention, first aid care and Adult CPR. An optional Child CPR component may also be taken. This course is a must for coaches, officials and parents of athletes.
(Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Will enhance the skills of healthcare providers in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. It emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effect basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. The American Heart Association recognizes 2 year certification.
BLS (Basic Life Support): Teaches healthcare providers the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of automated external defibrillator and relief of choking. American Heart Association recognizes 2 year BLS certification.
First-Aid: Learn how to handle emergency situations, practice basic disease transmission precautions, recognize and care for bleeding, wounds, sudden illness and immobilizing muscle, bone and joint injuries. Participants receive First Aid certification & course materials. American Red Cross recognizes 3 year First Aid certification.
Water Safety Instructor courses are offered year-round throughout the area and enables, upon completion, instructor candidate will learn how to teach water safety education, including the Basic Water Rescue course, the six levels of the Learn to Swim Program and also the Parent and Child Aquatics course.

• 16 years of age prior to last date of class.
• Possess Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) Certificate or be a current American Red Cross instructor in another specialty area.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform the following strokes at a Level 4:
• Front crawl, Back crawl, breaststroke, backstroke, sidestroke - 25 yards of each
• Butterfly - 15 yards
• Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water, floating or sculling.
• Tread water for 1 minute.

Lifeguard
Teaches lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Prerequisite:

• Successfully pass pre-course which includes:
1) swimming 300 continuous yards in the following order:
- 200 yards of front crawl
- 100 yards of breaststroke
2.) surface dive into 7 to 10 feet deep water, retrieve 10-pound object, return to surface, swim back 20 yards with face above the water, and the 10-pound object held with both hands.

Waterfront Lifeguard: Teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies both in a pool and at a waterfront environment. The course content and activities prepare lifeguard candidates how to prevent drownings and injuries and to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Course Length: 37 hours
Prerequisite:
-At least 15 years of age prior to last date of class.
-Successfully pass pre-course which includes:
1) Swim 550 yards continuously, using these stroke in the following order:
-200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.
-200 yards of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
-150 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 15- yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke.
2)
Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without suing a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
3) Swim 5 yards submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water, resurface and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool.
Waterpark Lifeguard: Teaches candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies both in a pool and at a watermark environment. The course content and activities prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.
Course Length: 33.25 hours
Prerequisite:
-At least 15 years of age prior to last date of class.
-Successfully pass pre-course which includes:
1) Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order: -100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breathing can be performed either by breathing to the side or to the front.

Lifeguard Management: The purpose of the Lifeguard Management course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage lifeguards and to create an environment that keeps patrons, lifeguards, and the aquatic facility safe. Participants receive certification (no validity period), course text with CD-Rom.
Course Length: 7 hours
Prerequisite: Recommended for individuals with lifeguard or management experience.
Emergency Response (First-Responder): Train individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a first responder in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advanced medical help can arrive. Offers the most comprehensive Red Cross first aid training, including AED, Bloodborne Pathogen, Oxygen Administration and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Babysitter Full Training: Youth learn the knowledge and skills to provide safe and responsible care for children. Participants should bring to class a light snack or lunch. Please provide youth with emergency contact information. Participants receive certificate of completion and handbook.
Course Length: 6.5 hours
Prerequisite: Ideally suited for youth ages 11 through 14 years of age.
Safety Training for Swim Coaches: Provides training in aquatic safety for competitive swim coaches and officials, athletic trainers, athletes participating in aquatic activities, aquatic exercise trainers and other individuals involved in aquatic competition or exercise programs. Participants receive certification valid for three years, and course text.
Bloodborne Pathogens: Individuals learn how to help prevent exposure incidents, practice good personal hygiene, proper methods to clean and disinfect equipment and supplies, as well as how to recognize, report and follow-up on exposures to infectious materials. This course meets OSHA guidelines for Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Participants receive certification and course text. American Red Cross recognizes 1 year certification.
